Non-bariatric comments - vent

Recommended Posts

I just need to vent for a moment. Nearly everyone I've told about this surgery thinks they have some way to relate. What is it with people? If they've dieted, they think they know the same issues, or had another surgery, or ate baby food.

Has anyone else had this? I'm glad I limited who I've told. This is annoying.

Yeah I don't want advice from skinny b*****s unless they have been through it before. I hate when my friends with flat stomachs are like yeah I need to lose 20 pounds. So annoying.

My neighbor who is like a stick insect told me she lost 20kg using mind over matter and it's the same reason her boob's are perky because that's how she's told them to be! She wanted me to try it. I said first off your boob's are perky because you are 30 and have no kids second if I could have willed away 200+ lbs I would have done by now! The other ones who annoy me are the ones who say..well done on the weight-loss oh wait you had surgery didn't you? People who think having half your stomach removed or your intestinal tract rearranged is the easy way should try it! I mentally slap people who say it lol

Hello,
I hear what you're venting about and I see your point. You would know better than I, but do you think they are just trying to connect with you on losing weight? My best friend is 98 pounds soaking wet, she has seen me struggle with my weight for years. Many years ago, she went on a cruise and gained five pounds. Now that isn't a lot for me, you can't see it if I gain five pounds, however, someone 5'1' and 98 pounds, you can see it! She told me she couldn't wear any of her jeans ect ect. All of a sudden, she got real quiet. Then she said to me, " I'm so sorry Di, I only need to lose five pounds, you should of told me to shut up"!

Here is what I said to her," Janice, it doesn't matter if it's five pounds or 95 pounds, it's all the same struggle for all of us".

That is just how I look at it.
I hope your journey goes well, and you can vent to us anytime.

Di

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
