Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! So today I started my liquid diet ( 2 weeks) , I’m drinking Premier ... and right of the bat.. the first symptom is heartburn... omg this is hell to me.. cuz I suffer from heartburn.. but I was keeping it under control. O.o anyone else suffer from this and felt relief later on? And I saw people saying they get headaches by second or third day... but meds are allowed right ??

I'm on my third day using the same shakes, my headache is murder and I was told not to take anything. Not getting heart burn but you can take an antacid for it, Rolaids are good.

Hmm ..I️ wonder what is the issue with taking meds? Cuz I will really have to for my heartburn. And thanks for the tip. I’ll try that out.

Taking Nsaid before surgery is not allowed as it can interfere with other drugs. Also these are processed by your liver and we are trying to reduce our liver. Rolaids are fine they don't hold any liver damaging properties. Hope this helps.

It does thank you so much. Also I knew about the 24 hours before surgery ... but not through out the 2 weeks.

So I am 9 months post-op. I feel like a pro by now at this point lol. So ask your doc if you can take Nexium for the heartburn. I was allowed to take this both before and after surgery. :)

Lol. Experience is a virtue and that means is fine to take “some” heartburn med.. so that is good with me. Thank you !

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
