I’ve only told a handful of people that I️ am having WLS but of course people are going to ask about the weight loss and I’d prefer to keep it quiet just to avoid the opinions of those who are possible nay-sayers! Just wondering what are you telling people as you go through the different phases of WL surgery and recovery?

I just say, I am following a supervised plan from my doctor - those are acquaintances that really are not close friends. I have known them a long time but I wouldn't discuss a hysterectomy with them either. I consider a lot of medical things private.

I am 7.5mos post op and my husband, mom and 1 friend knows about my surgery. People at work and ESPECIALLY church ask me HOW and I just say the truth... That I have totally changed what and how much I eat.... It's not a lie, it's totally the truth. I just don't want to hear people's opinions so I chose to keep it to myself. I'm already getting the "you're too small" and the "don't lose any more weight" comments (which I'm sick of)....

I've also had people come flat out and ask if I've had surgery and I say "I wish" and leave it at that. I actually feel offended for someone to ask that because to me it's personal. I wish people can just LET ME BE GREAT!!!!

Before I took my leave I was already on clear liquid diet so I started losing weight. People already was telling me that the weight was coming off. I told a couple people at my job that I had to get a hernia remove. You know people like talking so that gave them something to talk about. My last day at work my co-workers was saying make sure you stay on your diet while you out cause you looking good. I even gave a few people a fake diet I was using. Lol I only told my husband and daughters

Yea... I️ told my husband that I️ would tell people a hernia removal as well but he seemed skeptical and wasn’t a 100% on board with that one. I’m starting my liquid diet and will start bringing my gym bag to work just in case people ask.

I am also planning to tell people I am having a hernia repair and that I am following a special diet from my nutritionist. The people I care about will eventually know, everyone else can just mind their own business.

Have a great day!

Told people me and 5 friends put in $1,000 each. The person to lose the most weight by New Years gets the $6,000. So far everyone is believing it. For the record, I tell everyone I'm a distant second in the standings.

That is awesome! I told hubby about that and he says I should do the same. Great idea

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily,Β including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well. Β I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening. Β So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this?? Β Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.Β

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
