Loan acquire/peoples experiences with it.

Recommended Posts

Hello! So insurance is a no go for me, and I just recently decided that I would have my surgery in Mexico with Dr. Zavalza if everything goes accordingly (haven't booked yet). First I was trying get a loan, and I wondered what peoples experience was with United medical. I don't have the best credit score, it's fair, I also rent do not own a house. Did anyone use a credit card instead to pay for their surgery? Which one is better loan or CC? Thanks in advance!

Perhaps a credit card is not the best option due to high rates. Try getting a customer loan instead, usually those have a better flat rate and much longer repayment periods (about 3-5 years). That won't stress you much.

None of us have the best credit score, according to financial institutions :) but it really depends how BAD is your credit score!

I'll have to look up customer loans, I've never heard of them. I just got my credit score up to a 615 a couple months ago it was a 545 ☹ lol. So we shall see. It seems it's so much easier to get credit cards than loans. I've tried applying for a loan through prosper, but it was for $8000 when I planned on getting the surgery in US. So fingers crossed higher credit and lower amount work in my favor.

Hi,

I took a loan out with Avant. The interest rate is horrible-29%. My credit score is recovering from a layoff that led to going back to college and is a bit higher than yours, but not by a lot. I've had the same bank for 16 years, have a good job, and have my income direct deposited into my bank account. I thought I'd have no problem getting a loan with my bank. I went in and they suggested their credit card with zero interest for a year. I was declined within two hours. I'll be paying $1,500 in interest and fees which sucks, but if I don't, I'll be paying with my life.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
