So I had to do a sleep apnea test last night. It is my final test before my surgery. I was allowed to do an at home study. Problem is I couldn't sleep. I slept maybe 3 - 4 hours. Is that enough for them to be able to get results?

For me my surgeon sent me to a sleep hospital because they had to hook me up to all kinds of wires that actually measured my sleep and was able to see if i stopped breathing during the night, that is how they tell if you have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is when you stop breathing in your sleep. You are allowed to do this 2 times in a 45 minute span, if you do it more often then you will get a cpap machine. I am not sure how you were able to see if you stopped breathing at home without all of the tests being ran while you were sleeping? ???

However, i went to the sleep hospital and stayed 8 hours, they need at least 4 hours of good sleep. In the middle of the night they came in and told me that I have quit breathing over 30 times in 5 minutes so they put a cpap machine on me and continued to do the tests while i slept the rest of the night. Now i do have to sleep with a cpap machine every night. All the cpap machine does is force air either through your nose or your mouth to make sure that you are getting enough air so you don't stop breathing in the middle of the night. I had a mask at first but then i switched to nasal pillows and that works much better for me.

Even if you do have sleep apnea and have to use a cpap machine, its not as bad comfortable wise so i would just talk to your doctor about it.

They need 6 hours at least. You will probably have to do it again.

Well I already got the preliminary results. They said I do not have sleep apnea! Which is what I was hoping for. One step closer!!

That’s good. I knew I snored from my allergies but didn’t realize I was quiting breathing 95 times per hour. Omg.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
