It depends on what you do. I have a desk job. I brought my insulated lunch box with my shakes inside and my yogurt. I had plenty of access to Water. I brought in packets of Crystal Light type stuff. I was back at work 6 days after surgery. One day I treated myself to egg drop Soup - but the sodium content messed with me. Wasn't really an issue, but I don't know what you do.

I agree with Diana. I started back to work today and it was a breeze. But I work in a really relaxed office setting so I didn’t foresee any issues anyway. I feel like I definitely drink more Water at work than at home.

It was hard for me at one of my jobs. I work prn and so I'm in different places. I really had to time things out, when to stop drinking so I could eat and when I could begin drinking again. Vitamins was also difficult at first at work. It's all worked out and it gets easier!

I also work a desk job. I had two weeks off, so it was a breeze once I had to return. I just planned ahead, and made sure that I had purees, Protein Shakes, etc. on hand at all times. This is something new, but you will get used to it in a hurry.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
