I'm almost 2 1/2 years out and have slid back into some bad habits.. Year one I lost over 150 pounds and this past year I've gained almost 50 from my lowest.. I would LOVE to have a Buddy to check in with and Share a Support system with.

My surgery date is 10/23, so I'm not much help right now. Best wishes, though.

Omg !!!!!! The pictures you posted are absolutely amazing I just had the gastric sleeve surgery one month ago the scale says I've lost 28 lb but when I look in the mirror I still look the same I am a bit discouraged of course I did get off track yeah I know really early to do that but I guess it happens going through lots of things in my life right now really picked a bad time to have the surgery especially when you're an emotional eater and turn to food to ease the pain I hope that you get back on track you did such an amazing job I am so floored by your pictures you are such an inspiration I hope that I do as good as you did your picture is worth a thousand words and pictures don't lie I would love to be your buddy maybe you could help me to get some of this weight off I am struggling but I want to be able to help you it's just that I'm so new at this but if you need a shoulder to lean on an ear to listen or some encouragement I'm really great at that just think of how well you did before you can do it again you proved it once right I believe in you and I know that once you put your foot forward and just try just a little you can get back in the groove maybe you should just start out with one or two shakes a day as Meal Replacements and see where that goes would love to hear back from you and talk to you more by the way my name is Lisa((((( hugs))))) I hope we talk again but if not best of luck to you you can do this!!!![emoji3][emoji173][emoji170][emoji171][emoji175]🖤[emoji180][emoji873][emoji174] if you try really hard and 5 or 8 pounds comes off that could be just enough to give you the encouragement and willpower you need to take off the total 50 and just think about how amazing you are going to feel and look all over again you get a chance to use your tool before it gets out of hand start early you've been through this before don't let it get a foothold on you if you do it will be just that much harder to take more weight off!!!! I am cheering for you lillybee[emoji255][emoji890][emoji254][emoji257][emoji258][emoji219][emoji219][emoji219][emoji219], well, the flowers aren't quite lilies but they are supposed to be LOL I was trying to send you some emojis in your name lillybee but they don't have any pictures of lilies LOL and I couldn't find any pom-poms either maybe I will look for you a trophy??? Lol

Surgery is tomorrow 7-18 at noon. Trying to fall asleep. Excited. Pre-op diet went well except now I know what my emotional eating triggers are... Anger and Depression. I couldn't stuff my face to make those feelings go away. Learned a lot about myself this week.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
