Hello,

You probably may want to wait about 5 days. Although immediately after the surgery I felt perfectly fine, as the days went on, I realized I would get tired quickly. Remember, you won't be "eating" so your energy level will be low. Also about three days later I felt a little uncomfortable and it felt good to lay down after taking the pain medicine.

I was told if I was on my feet for my job doing lifting, to wait 2 weeks. However I have an office job (does nothing for weight loss har har), so I was planning to go back on day 4, unfortunately I was stupid and hurt myself.. so I was out 8 days total.

Since they encourage walking around, I would think you could go back within the first week. But be warned, you may be weak and tired quickly. If I had to stand up for periods of time, I would get light headed and want to lay down.

See what your doctor recommends, and he may just say do what your body feels :)

It's all personal really. I went back to work in 4 days (office job). My doctor also told me he has had police officers go back to work, on full duty, in the same time period. However, I've seen some people on this board take a month to go back to work.

I was exercising (elliptical) by day 8 post-surgery, and I am now 19 days post-surgery doing .5 hour elliptical a day, abdominal work, and light weights (20 pounds or less). Again, your experience may vary.

I was banded on 10/1/07 and I lost ten pounds. I am also from NY- but I am from Manhattan. I saw the doctor yesterday and he said all is well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
