Slow and steady loss normal?

Recommended Posts

I've been slow and steady the whole time. RNY 8/21/17 and down 30 lbs. I average 700 Cals/daily and I get in my Water and Protein. I'd love to lose a big chunk all at once but it just hasn't happened. I keep reading stories of people having the weight melt off...normal???

That is 44 days. When was the last time you lost 30 lbs in 44 days? I lost 33 lbs in the first 44 days after surgery. It's a good amount of weight loss. We started at the same place. You are doing good.

Lol. When you put it that way....

I just keep hearing these stories of large chunks of weight being lost so quickly. Perhaps their weight is higher. I'm not ungrateful. This was a good decision for me. In addition to the weight loss, I have no headaches and I sleep well and I have no aches or pains!!

@johnnycakes - please stop ending ur posts with "people will ##%* about anything". Its deflating and makes people feel bad when they already feel bad. I believe u had a great weightloss journey and rhats great, but others may need extra support, which is okay! Others have expectations, legit ones or not, set by feedback on these boards or in our support groups, and they're not being met and it's frustrating. Please say less harsh words, if u really want to be empathetic and supportive, as I know u can because I've seen other supportive posts uv made that do not say things like that. So please, its not helpful when u chastise. Its just not. Many people have told u that, so my request to u shouldnt be surprising. Can u just try?@mom@teamjack - i can appreciate your question and concern. When we see all the 'melting off of lbs' posts or when in support groups with thin women who say their journey was with high monthly pound losses, u wonder if there something wrong with what ur doing or if theres anything else we can incorporate into our plans in order to have those same results. My journey has been slow as well, and its frustrating. Started at 310lbs 1 month ago when i had bypass surgery. Im at 298 now. 12lb loss (which in and of itself would be good), but the first 9lbs loss was in the first week post op. Been going up and down with the 3lbs these last 3 weeks and i have no clue why. Ive had zero postop complications, which is awesome! But am feeling a ways about the last 3 weeks. I was so hopeful that first week post op with 9lbs down too... anyway, good luck with the downward momentum from here on out! Hopefully it will be just that...downward, no matter how fast or slow! I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
