Fluid intake

We need 48 to 64 ounces of Fluid a day. I was wondering what everyone else did besides Water or how can you jazz up the water? Water is pretty boring.

I was told to drink the Propel Water or Vitamin Water or even Crystal Light to help. I love water so I don't have that problem. I am on my third big glass already today.

Don't think about 64oz. Think 4 bottles of Water (regular size Dasani / Aquafina etc). 4 bottles is not a big deal at all (imo). I write the number of each bottle in Sharpie as I get them from the fridge. It helps me to remember how many I have drunk and is a little motivator every time my eye catches it. Walmart carries Great Value Electrolyte Drink Enhancer. I don't give a crap about electrolytes per se but it has a sort of sourish sweetness that takes away that sort of empty blandness that flavoured water drinks have (versus soda). It's like $2-3 for the concentrate that flavours a bunch-ish of water bottles for you. Blue Raspberry was the one I liked the most. The sweetener doesn't taste super fake either.

I love to add a few cucumber slices and a sprig of mint to my Water. I use so much that I have begun to free cucumber slices and mint so I can keep a good stock on hand. If I have frozen whole strawberries on hand I place a couple in my water with the cucumbers and mint - yum! DoTerra essential oils is another thing I use. I love the lemon and put two drops in a 16 oz bottle and off I go. I keep the bottle in my purse for adding a drop or two in my restaurant water as well. Helps with bad water flavor. If you are a "sweet" person True Lemon and True Lime carries lemon/limeade - black cherry limeade is great and it's sweetened with stevia. Stur is also sweetened with stevia and they have several flavors that are good. And lastly - I just came across Protein2o water. Its a bit costly but if you contact the company they'll send you out coupons so you can give them a try for less. I like the Grape and Wild Cherry flavors and they have 15 grams of whey Protein in them. I'm not a fan of whey but for an occasional easy to pack and take drink these are good.

It is common for your taste buds to change after surgery. Be willing to experiment. After surgery, my taste buds changed dramatically. Even Water changed. In the hospital it tasted excessively chlorinated and I could not drink it. So I experimented. sugar free popsicles became my best friend. Some individuals find hot or cold can help with fluids. For me, I found that I could tolerate flavored water. So I began using Crystal Light. I also found a new drink Bai which I liked cold. In the winter, I found that I tolerate Hot Drinks such as piping hot cocoa. But you have to use the "No Sugar Added" variety. Also fine English teas were very good.

The Fluid requirement is met by a combination. It is not only the water that you drink each day. But also the water you drink when you take your Vitamins and medicine. It is the milk you drink. It is the fluids content of the Protein Shakes. It is the water component of the Soups you take. It is met by flavored water such as Crystal Light. It is met by sugar free popsicles. It is met by tea and Decaf coffee. It is a combination of all the fluids that you consume during the day.

The guidance that I received was 64-80 ounces of fluids a day. 48 ounces sounds a little on the low side.

James, you gave excellent advice. I just wanted to support your emphasis on 64 -80 ounces of water per day. (Online dietitian).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
