UPDATE: Hi guys...I’m doing great! This past week was a little touch and go I had that abdominal pain creep back up on me but i find that as long as a wear some sort of supportive undergarments I’m fine. It takes some getting used to and a little uncomfortable at times but I’m just gonna go ahead and put it out there, support garments are a must!!! Thank me later lol

Still on purée phase. Haven’t been eating much. Mainly, my Protein Drinks, sugar free Puddin, applesauce and of course plenty of Water and crystal light (try warming it up like hot tea, its so satisfying).

Thanksgiving was lovely! My family seems to be putting everything behind us and we’re all moving forward. [emoji7]

This weekend was great as i got to spend some time with my daughters and my BF in the mountains. We rented a cabin and the girls went zip lining. Although, i finally meet the weight requirement [emoji23] it’s still too soon, doc said i should stay away from vigorous activity for at least another three weeks. I CANT WAIT TO GET BACK IN THE GYM!! [emoji30].

Haven’t weighed myself since my post op appointment; I was 275 then. Going to weigh myself tomorrow morning *fingers crossed* I’m down another five.

Looking to return to work tomorrow...finally things are starting to get back to normal!

I’m so happy for ya.. and sadly I won’t have the undergarment on time .. surgery is tomorrow. I’m glad to see you are doing great with some complications but “that shall pass” I wish you keep doing well. And best of luck with the loss!

Can I just confess to y'all?

I'm so thrilled for each one of you and proud of your losses and how you're healing!!! ((hugs))

Every time someone announces they are approved or have a date, I get this knot in my throat/chest as I'm happy for them. I also am a little green with envy. This was also supposed to be MY time. You know? Now I'm in limbo again for the next 3 months wondering if my insurance is going to find a way to exclude me from surgery. So instead of the holidays being laid back and easy...I'm sad and stressed. I know time is what we make of it. I'm just having trouble the last couple of weeks processing the disappointment and choosing to have a positive outlook. I know I'll get there...it just sucks while you're processing.

There...they say confession is good for the soul?

Right now...it is ok for you to feel like you are. You had a date and you were ready to go. It is so sad that someone else's mistake can make such an impact on someone else's life. I do not have any miracle words to give you for encouragement (I wish knew what could make a difference and make you feel instantly better). Just know we are here to listen and try the best you can to enjoy the holiday's with family and friends. ((hugs))

Hello FluffyChix, I know first hand what you are going through because I also had many delays and hospitalizations and then have to wait for stabilization and then for an appointment and for the operating room to be available. All this while I was sitting on edge wondering, WHEN! I made myself think that there could be some unknown danger which I was avoiding because God knows all things. So I decided to relax and have faith that it would happen when it's supposed to happen. And then it did. It's not easy but you've done your part so try to enjoy the holidays but don't go overboard and then regret it. Before you know it you'll get your call. Good luck! Fluffy,

It is totally understandable that all the updates will leave you feeling conflicted. You were with us, right there, up until the last minute. Of course you are disappointed. I agree with everyone else, you are such a positive influence on us, and always know the exact right thing to say. Please stay with us, we will be there for you when your day comes, and it will be sooner than you think.

Hugs to you/

You have all your rights to feel that way.. i would and even worse. Is not easy to be told not now .. but later .. after all plans. To me you are very strong, cuz I would’ve left this site and anything that would set my heart in pain. Just know when your turn comes we will be here with you too. To congratulate and tell you that “this and that” is normal.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
