Has anyone done Cross-fit since they where sleeved? Is that too extreme? I need a group fitness setting to be successful. I get to bored on my own. Thanks in advance

Have you tried orange theory? It's much more cardio and light weight focused vs running around with a 50lb weight over your head. I love orange theory! Best bang for your exercise buck for an out of your time. My orthopedic surgeon said that cross fit keeps him in business

Crossfit is tailored to the person, so you can do it at any fitness level. If you want to increase your all around fitness and get legit strong, then Crossfit is amazing for that.

I like my Crossfit gym because we aren't trapped indoors even though we are in doors, it has huge garage doors that open so it doesn't feel like you are inside I hate being indoors and I hate being active indoors so it works for me.

I would suggest waiting until at least 6 months maybe even a year. Just because you need to be able to drink enough to replace fluids and eat enough to keep your calories up. And my opinion on that isn't just for Crossfit, it is for anything that is higher intensity than walking.

I returned to cross fit at 2 weeks, 4 days post-op. I started slow (low weights, no ab work). I'm taking a break for a while and started running on my own while the weather on the east coast is nice. I'll go back to my box in November or so.

I had no problem doing the workouts right after surgery, but I did have to up my Protein, carb, and calorie intake, to compensate for the extra calories burned. I had no problem staying hydrated. I'm 16 weeks post op now and I can gulp Water with no problem.

I've been doing crossfit for over 2 years and started out around 260. I never lost any significant weight from crossfit, but I'm returning to it with the hope of toning -- I'll lose weight thanks to my sleeve now :)

For the record, none of my wods ever included running while holding a 50 lb plate over my head.

Pick a box based on recommendations from people you know. You'll want to go somewhere that has a program for beginners so you start off on the right foot.

My favorite part of crossfit is the group aspect. Everyone wants you to do your best. I have enjoyed running but I miss my "friends" from the box.

Yup, totally do able. I did it for a couple months. Not my thing, I prefer yoga, but admire those who love it!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
