I had a hernia repair also when I got my band. I didn't even know I had a hernia! It hasn't caused any problems at all. After reading so much on this board I found it's pretty common to have both at the same time. You will do great! Good luck!

Wow that is fast!!! Not sure why she has me staying so long? I know she normally requires a 1night stay for lap bands..how was the pain after?

Glad you brought up hernia surgery. I had hernia surgery a couple of years ago and haven't healed well. I wondered if that would have any bearing on whether or not I could be banded...guess I need to just take that first step and talk to the doctor.

Before I considerd the lap band I found I had a hernia. Than I was loking into it and dr said I could wait for TT or do it with banbd..mine hurts and needs to be done ASAP.. I am excited ..it will be gone.. she is using a rubberized mesh and sewing it into my abdominal wall.. she said it will hurt, but after 2cs maybe not so bad.. Ihope

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
