Writing/typing in a journal for your journey

Recommended Posts

Just curious as to how many others have kept some sort of private journal (hand written or typed/online) that they use to document the progress of their journey. I know a lot of people blog and have YouTube channels (feel free to share both!) that are viewable by the public, but my journaling is done on a site called Penzu, which is a private online journaling platform. I used it when I went through my divorce from my first husband, and it was actually very helpful to get all my thoughts typed out without worrying about others reading them. I could just lay it all out as bluntly as I wanted.

I may eventually share some of my journal entries with friends and family, but right now it's my space to say what I want, keep track of all the pre-op appointments I've got scheduled, and just have a place to store all of my thoughts. I did splurge and pay the $20 to upgrade for a year of Penzu Pro, which basically lets me have multiple journals (so my WLS is a separate journal of its own), and different text and background styles, as well as the ability to download/print my journal if I want down the road.

What are you doing to document your journey so that you can go back and 'relive' it down the road?

I think the private journal sounds like a great idea, but part of me would like to just forget about how I let myself get so overweight. In any case, I'm almost 11 months post op now.. so I've missed the chance to document most of my transformation.

I have been wanting to start a wls food blog, if only to help keep myself on track.

Never too late to start @bostonmama! A food blog is actually a really good idea.

The thought of a physical journal always gives me some dreamy sense of happiness but then I remember wrist cramps and empty pages always follow. I want to be able to update at the drop of a hat and don't want to carry the journal and pens everywhere I go. I created a wix blog. I toyed with the idea of making it something inspirational for others blahblahblah but decided on making it a series of letters to myself. It's more work than my old school livejournal was, so hopefully that doesn't stop me from updating. So far I love it. I keep posting links of articles I don't want to forget. Eventually pictures, struggles, thoughts...everything will go there.

Have you found a journaling system that works for you since you posted this?

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
