YIKES!!! I am the worst

Recommended Posts

I was cooking dinner for the family, and not even paying attention, I ate about 4-5 spoonfuls of food. It is such a natural habit, that I honestly didn't realize I was doing it, until it was too late. I am scheduled for surgery in 1 week from today, so I am so close to the finish line on this pre-op journey. I have been super dedicated, drinking the shakes, Water and broth, but not sure how I messed up. Mentally I am devastated, but will I be ok???? No judgement please

Yes! You will be OK. I used to do the same. Tonight, after I ate my two ounces, I took another taste from the pan as I walked by, and it was my first experience over stuffing my pouch. It went from fine, to OMG I AM GOING TO DIE. Lesson learned! I hope. Just get back on track and you'll be fine.

I've been there. The other day In thought three only like 2 bites left, what difference could that make. Enough to have me pacing in pain apparently. We all slip up at some time.

One slip up in the 2 weeks pre op diet is not likely to cause a problem. The diet is to help soften up and shrink your liver. If you stay on track you should be absolutely fine.

Don't beat yourself up. My God you are human! I wouldn't necessarily call it a mistake but rather a very minor slip up. Not a big deal. Obviously you were cooking for your family and wanted to be sure it tasted good for them. Next time, maybe have someone sample it for you. Have a great day!

Like others said one slip up is not the end of the world.

However, down the road this is something to be mindful of. You can easily graze like this post op. Those few bites while cooking can really add up in calories.

Find someone in your family to be your designated taster or just learn to wing it when cooking. Tasting while you cook is a death to food tracking.

One thing my Dr. said, "When cooking, do not sample the food as it is being prepared". Being someone who cooked all of the time, I understand the "habit" of doing it. I will join in w/ the others, you'll be just fine. I'm sure it is something that will not be repeated and you'll happily go on, all is well!

You will be fine! Some docs don't even have a pre op diet! It's just a bad habit you will need to break and now you have made yourself aware of it which is the first step!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
