how are you all losing so much weight so quickly? i'm 16 days out from surgery and only down 8lbs. then i come here and see people talking about losing 13, 17...pounds. it's awesome for you all, but i can't help but feel discouraged reading that.

Of course I was on all liquids but I also wonder if it's because of no wheat. I'm adding foods VERY slowly because I think I may have some allergies. I have been far less congested than normal. I tried 1 percemt Milk in my Carnation instant Breakfast no sugar and it went immediately through me so soy milk it is...

The dietician told me not to take my chewable Fiber but I disobeyed her and cut the 2 tablets into 4 pieces each and ate them throughout the day and that gave me some relief and a 4 lb more loss. My only complaint is the itchiness of my incisions near my waistband . My energy is good and I feel almost normal except I'm eating FAR less than I would have.

Banded 10-05-07

Wow, 17 pounds is great! I was also banded on Oct. 5, 2007. I lost 10 pounds in the first 6 days. Not sure how much I've lost since the 11th. I don't own a scale so I have not weighed myself since my one week followup. I am now in week two and on creamy Soups and yogurt. I've been doing the Carnation Instant Breakfast to.

I hope you continue to do well. Good luck to you!

Don't get discouraged. We all lose weight at different rates. But my literature from my program says that in a year we will all have caught up to eachother no matter who lost the most first. I lost 14 pounds in my pre-op diet. The rest I have lost since surgery. Just keep following the program and you will lose it all too!

Don't worry about not losing wt. fast. That is why I picked lap band because the weight loss is supposed to be gradual. I will have enough loose skin without the rapid wt. loss. I don't want to get to goal for a year (or a bit more). That is 5 lbs per month. More then fast enough for me.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
