A question for my fellow ladies

It's normal. The surgery messes with our hormones big time. Some people who just had theirs, will get it right after surgery again. It is very normal for the surgery to jump start your period. And it might be wonky for a few months because of all the hormones that are being released as you are losing fat. It will go back to normal again.

It seems to be normal. I was practically menopausal and my period came back with a vengeance 3 months after my RNY. It lasted 6 weeks and I was worried about becoming anemic so I went to my GYN. She put me on Progesterone to even out my hormones and that took care of it for me.

Totally normal. I wasn't having periods because I had endometrial ablation. But ever since surgery I've had very regular periods every single month [emoji22].

About 6 weeks post op I got one of the heaviest and longest periods of my life. I agree...the hormone changes after surgery mix this stuff up. Make sure you take your Vitamins with Iron and stay hydrated

I'm 5 weeks post-op and totally thought something was wrong with me! The day after my surgery, I got my period 2 weeks before I was due and it was the heaviest I've ever had and lasted about 9 days! It turns out this isn't strange, it just doesn't happen to every woman who has surgery.

I still haven't got my period I'll be a month post on August 27th... I'm not sexually active at all and I never had any vaginal issues but for the first time in my 29 years I got a yeast infection and it's been hell trying to get rid of it idk if it's because of the surgery or not

It's normal. I'm on the same shot. Didn't get periods pre-op. Now, I spot for a few days. Usually. The longest it went on for was two weeks. I'm hoping this shot will stop all the bleeding again because I want nothing to do with the pain I would get before I even started getting the shot.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
