Bye Bye Band...Hello Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I had my band removed. I'm definitely in some pain. My belly button area hurts pretty bad. I get my sleeve on November 13th!! Excited and ready for the next journey. I think I'm going to start getting rid of a few habits before hand. The hardest one I see is not drinking while eating. I can do it!! Right now I'm having issues eating too much because I'm sure my tummy is swelled from the surgery. Does the sleeve hurt more than this? And if so on a scale of 1 to 10 how much more? I am definitely experiencing the gas issues. I'm just going to have to physc myself out for the next step

hi Geri, I had the sleeve done on 7/26 and I have had no pain at all from the sleeve, although I had a histal hernia and my doctor had to repair that during the surgery, there was a little discomfort from that on the first day, but other that - I really feel good. The only side effect from that I feel is bothersome, is fatigue... happens quite a bit because of the decrease in calories. Don't sorry, you'll be fine.

Thanks! I'm so excited but to tell you the truth I dont think I can handle much more pain than this. I am currently not working due to a spinal surgery so loss of energy wont be an issue. I think I may try the vitamin patches from this site, including the B12 one. I think that may help! Anyway good luck and I can not wait to join you!!!!!!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
