3 days post op

Hi everyone! I got home today, its my third day post op. Im very uncomfortable, which i expected, but its very hard to take my liquids, i'm on a Clear Liquids diet until next week, just Water, Jello and broth. My doctor told me to take two liters of liquids per day but i can barely reach one. Im scared i will end up hospitalized because of dehydration.

Just wanted to share my experience. Hope everyone is doing great!

Many people find it difficult to get in the required amount of fluids right after surgery. Just keep trying to meet the requirements each day and you should get there shortly.

The Fluid requirement is met by a combination. It is not only the Water that you drink each day. But also the water you drink when you take your Vitamins and medicine. It is the milk you drink. It is the fluids content of the Protein Shakes. It is the water component of the Soups you take. It is met by flavored water such as Crystal Light. It is met by sugar free popsicles. It is met by tea and Decaf coffee. It is a combination of all the fluids that you consume during the day.

This is my 2nd day of post op and I feel like I am totally lost on something. My doctor told me to do 1 ounce of Water and Protein an hour!! It is hard to do when all you want to is sleep

What helped me reach my fluid goals was to do an ounce/shot glass size (i used diluted Protein Shakes - so a nectar Protein scoop to 16 ounces of water/instead of 8...then had one ounce every 15 mins. Also, room temp. liquid felt better going down for me. I set a timer, sipped it down, reset timer. Good luck, each day will get easier.

Today is day 4 and it was much better. I didn't reach my goal (I still have maybe 3 more hours left) so i'll see how close i can get.
