Period/menstruation delay

Recommended Posts

4 days late on period/11 days post op (and def not pregnant)

I am usually very punctual and bleed like crazy

Dreading period during this healing time but I want to get it over with because I know how much I bleed... I drip blood when I stand up..

Hoping this will help the blood loss.. feeling super bloated today and have had diarrhea which is normal prior to period arrival or during menstruation.. mild cramping.. any ladies out there that had menstruation delay/improvement after vsg surgery?

Lapband placed: 8/2011

Lapband removed: 3/2017

VSG: 8/2/2017

Surgery messes with Aunt Flo's schedule big time. It may be early, late, heavy, light, painful, not painful, and sometimes nonexistent.

Good luck!

I am so glad somebody posted a period question on here. I'm 12 days post op and just got my period and I feel awful almost flu like, drained, slightly dizzy and everything except Water and watermelon makes me feel sick... anyone else feel like this with their first period after surgery?

My first couple had me stay in bed for a day or two. They can be tough. Keep up with your nutrition as best you can.

I can definitely relate. I'm almost 4 months post op and I got my period for about 2 weeks for the first couple of months. I definitely felt super weak and a bit dizzy on the worst days. I had to increase my water intake. Drinking propel also helped a little with the dizziness. Last couple of months I had it for a week with a little spotting leading up to it. My PCP said it should normalize again once my weight stabilizes. Thankfully it does seem that my period is getting more normal each month even though I'm still losing.

So glad someone brought this up! Did you happen to weigh yourself during that time? I know that weight can waver a few lbs during that time of the month....but this has been crazy. I gained about 4 pounds pretty much over night and this week has been brutal. Trying to tell myself it's not a true gain, but it kind of took the wind out of my sails :(

Preop my period would cause 5-8 pound fluctuations. The first couple months postop, it was about 3 pounds. The last 2 months there was no upward fluctuation at all! This has really surprised me, and so I wonder why we retain Fluid, and whether it means something...

My periods have been wacky since my surgery. The first 5 months or so they were super long, about 12 days, and now they are shorter but my cycle length is shortening it was about 28-29 days a month and the last 2 months it's only been about 24 days total.

As for weight during my period I tend to stall the week of and the week after my period and will bounce up and down a couple pounds. This week I've gained 4 pounds and it's frustrating but I know it's all part of the cycle.

Hello all. I can appreciate all of your comments. I had my surgery 5/26/17 and haven't had a period yet. I'm so worried but not pregnant. Looking for normalcy. Any thoughts?

My doctor stated that surgery effects your cycle big time. As long you know you are not pregnant, you will have to wait it out. I noticed that I had all of my PMS symptoms but nothing happened. I have my tubes tied and ablations so before it was very very light to nothing. But this month all the PMS symptoms but no aunt flow. :)

I wish! Going on day 7 of the russian red
Day 2/3/4 super heavy I'm hoping it lightens and shortens up
I'm 41 and may be hitting menopause soon
Not looking forward to that either

Same! But I'm 33 so I've still got years to enjoy this rollercoaster.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
