How are you doing? I had my surgery on the 10th. Gas pain was horrible but pain is getting better. Are you having trouble getting your Protein & liquids in? I am.

I'm sorry! Did you know you they were going to take your gallbladder? I'm sure it will get better.

I've been having a few bouts of depression which is something I usually don't suffer from. I am already getting sick of the Protein Shakes. Cannot wait till I can get my Protein through other means. Maybe part of it is that I feel so full all the time that I feel like I'm having to force the shakes down.

I pray it gets better for you!

They said it was a possibility that they would take it so at least I was aware that it was a chance. Thank you for the prayers I really appreciate them I want to be the ideal student and when I go to the doctor have my diary and have it show that I hit all my numbers every single day cuz that's the personality I am and these two days I have maybe hit half the mark.

I am scheduled for Tuesday, tomorrow I have my last appointment with my surgeon... I am having second thoughts about Bypass.... I am now considering the sleeve..... my biggest fear is suffering dumping and not being able to tolerate Meats...

What is your biggest fear ??? I have never had an issue with over eating, my issues is being sedentary and i love to try new foods and new tastes.... and i am afraid the bypass will take that from me....... i am 6 feet 1 inch and I weight 295 pounds

Any thoughts?

How I had the same thoughts. I decided to stay with my original devotion because I wanted to give myself the best option to loose the most weight. Also this surgery had the most long term data on keeping the weight off. I don’t have a problem with food however I’m no longer that concerned about dumping as I have it as a reminder that I’m not to make the wrong choicest. My bigggest great is that I do all this and I do t loose any weight. I had brain surgery on a tumor benine early 2015 and I take 30 mg of steroid each day to prevent regrowth and that hinders me from loosing weight even when I work out hard for 1 hr a day and eat healthy and right portions. I eat 6 meals a day at 9 oz per meal and stay under 2000 calories a day. I am 6’7” and weigh 430. My thought hope all hoes well for you tomorrow as well

I got my approval this morning and am scheduled for October 19th! No pre-op diet for me - just Clear Liquids after midnight on the 18th. I'm super excited to start feeling better. I was approved for surgery due to back issues. Insurance agrees it's a better option than back surgery even though I don't qualify though the weight and BMI requirements. I am looking forward to less pain and a better quality of life in the very near future. So thankful to have you all to follow and learn from :).

Are you sure they said that you could drink after midnight on the 18th? I've never heard of anyone being able to drink after midnight the night before surgery. It's thought of as dangerous in fact.

My hospital actually has you do clear liquids the day before, then a gatorade (regular, not no cal) that night, and another gatorade in the morning at least 2hrs before your arrival time to the hospital. They started adding them in a few years ago because it helps with the recovery apparently. I'm in the middle of my 2wk liquid liver shrinking diet and am looking forward to those gatorades hahaha

Officially on the losers' bench! Surgery was at 8 this morning

All went well. Now just dealing with the "too many crunches" abdominal pain. No gas pain as of yet.

Tolerating Water fine. So getting ready to try chicken broth and Jello.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
