I just made my 6 month post surgery mark. Been averaging about 10#'s loss per month. I've gone from a size 22 pants/shorts to a 12. 1x - 2x to a medium - small in tops. I just bought my first pair of 10 shorts. They are tight.

My dilemma is, I'm going on a cruise to Cozumel Mexico end of November and I'm worried about having clothes that fit. I've noticed the selection of shorts and summer tops are getting fewer and limited in sizes. Stores are already starting to put out Fall clothing. I originally thought I'd buy size 10s for the cruise but being that I can already fit into them I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone tried to buy smaller sizes for future and succeeded in wearing them? If so how did you pick the size?

I really don't like the elastic waist kind. I HAD to wear those for so long.

Buy a few sundresses(they fit loser anyway) on the sale rack or shop online at big stores a little closer to your cruise date - google resort wear to get specific hits. You can always try resale shops right before and there is always shopping on the ship and at ports too.

I will be in 'the same boat' lol in February - we are cruising to S Caribbean for 10 days.

First of all, congrats on your success! Also, I agree about the elastic pants. I refuse to wear stretchy pants or t-shirts because thats what my only option was for soooo many years!

I agree with @Sosewsue61 though. Dresses are much more forgiving than actual pants/shorts. It would really depend on your frame and goal weight what size you would need. Are you near your goal? For me my goal is a size 10, but I am 5'10 and have broad shoulders.

I have 30#'s to goal. I thought I'd be in a size 10 at goal. Dresses for days at port are not a good option. We are hiking to a Mayan Temple in one port and zip lining and swimming with dolphins in second port.

Based on excursions then I would look online, you have 4 months so maybe buy only from places you can return the items to easily.

Venus usually has swimsuits and shorts year round - people that live in FL and CA and HI wear shorts year round

I would wait until October. I'd also recommended second hand shops or goodwill. I buy high end brands. And will even drive to classy neighborhood goodwill. I was dripping sizes so quickly too. Some goodwill have specials for the week. Toss it all in the washer, twice if it makes you feel better. I've gotten tons of complements on "New" outfits.

Glad to hear about Goodwill... Tomorrow I plan on giving them 9 huge contractor size bags of clothes that no longer fit me

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
