5 days post op working?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm having my surgery in a couple weeks and want to know if anyone has worked from home after their surgery? I have just come back from annual leave and this surgery is kinda fast moving and I didn't expect to be booked in so fast. I can't take any leave so planning on working from home. I'm just worried I'll be so sleepy

I worked from home- my brain wasn't normal though right away- foggy, forgetful just not all there. I could work for short stints but because I work in a troubleshooting, figured out what went wrong kind of job I wasn't at my best. If you can take lots of breaks and rest you should be able to do it.

Yes, it really depends on your job. I have a friend who was back in 5 days, but she's got a desk-type job; she said she was extremely tired due to the low caloric intake & practically zero Protein & carbs that week, but she was otherwise fine. Myself on the other hand, I took 8 weeks. That's what my doc recommended, and I work in a busy hospital laboratory where I'm standing most of the day. I felt strong enough to go back after about 3 weeks, but my mother passed away 2 weeks after my surgery so I stayed out for the full 8 weeks to take care of all of that. Good luck!

I drove and walked a mall 4 days after my 8 hours in the hospital for sleeve. I was not sleepy. I was 67 then.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
