Day 11. I should be on liquids until I see my Nutritionist on 10/17. But I couldn't take it anymore. :help:

Today for lunch I had beef barley veggie Soup. :embarassed: It was delicious. I had no problem getting it down. I feel guilty about my cheat, but I feel like I could have eaten much worse than a cup of Soup. I mean, I'm allowed Soups...but they're supposed to be cream. The veggies were soft. The barley was probably not a good idea, although it will certainly help clean me out.

I feel very full. It was certainly filling. Too filling even.

Do I need to confess my sins to some higher power...or is this cheat excusable? :Banane30:

It's crazy to me how different doctors are in their recommendations for food. My doctor recommended Clear Liquids for 4 days post-op and then full liquids for 2 days, followed by "soft foods", I guess mushies until I see him in a week. So, within 2 weeks, I'll be on soft foods, while some people are still on Clear Liquids. It's crazy!

I've stretched out my phase 2 and plan to do full liquids for a few days longer, but I'm anxious to keep on to mushies stage.

Good luck!

I think you'll be okay - no need for confession - the first 1-2 weeks are hell but it gets better once you can have some soft foods - isn't that first 'actual' food delicious? - I was about that far along when I couldn't take any more either and had like half a cup of Tomato Soup - manna from heaven after over a week of SF Jello and Water

My doctor is torture....I'm on full liquids for 14 days then soft foods 14 days.

I'm with you all....I'm eating some different Soup today. I can't take broth and I have officially banded freaking jell-o.

You all don't realize how great reading all this has made me feel. I'm excited but at the same time I'm like what the heck have I done. I was banded on 10/9/07 and I'm back to work today 10/11/07. I just couldn't sit at home anymore. I don't have pain and the gas is finally passing. I laughed at the Jello bann! I second that!

Wow Jenn. I was also banded on 10/9/2007 but I still feel a bit groggy and will not return to work until next Monday. You are doing GREAT!

Jena-

I am sure that it is not the worse crime in lap band history. You are on day 11 after all, and it was only Soup. There is very little restriction in our bands at the moment so I think you didn't do harm.

You guys can beat your sweet cheecks that this girl will be at the mircowave at exactly 11:30am next Thursday for something other soup!:hungry:

I have never in my life wanted a scrambled egg so darn bad. I'm not hungry I'm just over this 14 days liquid. I'm so grumpy! Grrrrrrr

Jen I'm jealous you went to work. I attempted to go to work today and it was not good. I have a pretty large sales territory and the driving is really proving to more difficult than I thought. I had to put the Superwoman cape away again as my belly really hurts this evening. I worked for 3 hours and came home and slept for 2.5.

Spoke to my boss I'm not going back until after my first follow-up on Monday. I have so much time I really don't know why I'm rushing except DAYTIME TELEVISION STINKS!

I was banded last Thursday (October 4th). My doctor only had me on clear liquids for 2 days, then I was suppose to be on full liquids for another 12 days. However, I went for another post op appointment today (I was having trouble early on) and he said I could go ahead and try some ground beef! I couldn't believe it. I want ground beef. I feel like I'm starving to death, but at the same time I don't want to hurt anything. I wonder why there is so much discrepency in these diets. According to the lapband book, I should still be on clear liquids. Oh it's so confusing!

I too will confess. I was on Clear liquids for three days before the surgery (i had it last tues on the second) and for 7 days after....then I've been doing bad eating chili with meat, sausage and egg in tiny little bites.....all is going down very easily. I have had no problems. I called the doc. office today though and the nutrit. said to go back on liquids till monday. This feels like torture going back and I am so depressed. I just want to chew!

Anyway, I know it will eventually get better....but it is hard now.

Take care and Best wishes and blessing to y'all.

Ok guys. I ate about 10 or so ounces of potato Soup today. I am about twelve days out from my surgery...I don't feel any restriction. What's up? Is it possible that I wont feel much restriction until I'm filled?

I feel like I've been bad...though my nutritionist said that I could be eating blenderized food now. Its the quantity I'm worried about.

Am I eating too much?

By the way I've lost about 26 pounds since the pro-op diet.

I'm too scared to try real food. Rabid that's amazing ground meat. My book says to not even try red meat for 3 months after surgery. Its really interesting how each clinic has their own rules.

I'd love to have something of substance but I figured they know what they are doing and for once in my life I'm going to listen. I've been fat for 10 years so 14 days of Soup and pudding and stupid Jello isn't going kill me. Might drive me a bit bonkers but.....

This is great.....gotta tell someone why not you all. My grandmother calls last evening, keeps asking me how much I want to lose, how much did I weigh. (Note to self call mother and ask how she found out). To which I reply to everyone when I get these questions, Same as I always weighed none of your business but thanks for asking!

Well dear old grannie goes on to say well pumpkin (yes pumpkin all the other grandaughters are princess but I'm pumpkin, working on that in therapy lol) you were getting really kinda of CHUNKY! THANKS NANA!!!! :phanvan

Dont you just love family!!!!

I went to work, but by 3pm I was slowing down big time. I get off at 4pm so it worked out. I have a desk job and live really close to work so it was a little easier to manage. :o Im resting this weekend so I can try it again on Monday. Thanks for the response!

Hi Pepper10! You got banded the same day as me! I hope you are doing good. I'm a little nauseous this morning but I hope that will pass with me starting full liquids today. Good Luck!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
