Wow! Insurance approved me the first go-around!

I called yesterday on a whim and my acceptance letters were sent out that same day. I could do the procedure pretty quickly but it seems that I have to have someone there with me and someone has to watch my kids. I have to be at the center at 5am and the hourly daycare center does not open till 8am. I am from minnesota so I dont have any family here in texas! Talk about obsticles! My husband is an offshore diver and is on call 24/7 so having him home on exactly the right time is only half my problem. I think I really need to find a babysitter in houston who is willing to be at by place at 4:30 in the morning LOL. I figure I might have to wait till the first week of january for when my mom is planning a visit and between now and then I can work out who can watch my kids. In the meantime, i need to sort through and get prepared for what is coming. I keep hearing that I will loose my hair and I am really interested to hear when that happens and how bad it is and can it be prevented. I suppose it will grow back, I am more interested in being about to shop off the sale rack at target in regular size clothes than what my hair will look like for a while. I get to be skinny again. I am so thrilled. So, if you read this far, *applause* and thanks. If you ahve any tricks or words of wisdom, or can give me any ideas of what to expect and what could make life easier between now and my surgury as well ass what I can do w=once I get home. Great big thanks, everyone!

congrats ginger!!! I wish I lived in Texas because I would help you out with a babysitter but good for you not giving up and being willing to wait until january!!! I dont have any advise on after having the band because I am not YET banded but definitely take this time to sort out everything and maybe start a little mini diet/workout plan that will help get the ball rolling in the right directions!!

good luck to you!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
