For those over a year out. Has anyone tried intermittent fasting. I am just reading the Obesity Code and it makes a lot of sense. Thinking of trying it.

Easiest intermittent fasting is after dinner, no food until late morning. Not for everyday but a couple times a week. My only experience with IF is before being sleeved. Was just sleeved yesterday. I won't be doing any IF for along time, until I get enough Protein and fluids.

I agree. No need to do it for quite a while. I am readinng the book The Obesity Code and it makes a lot of sense. Been stalled and finding my balance since about 10 months post op. Now I want to see if I can loose a bit more.

A coworker just mentioned it to me today. Said his family does it - they eat between 12-8 I think he said and fast the rest of the time.

I did 5:30 last evening to 9:30 this morning and cut off at 5:00 tonight. This is totally doable. If nothing else my night time snacking will be alleviated. Going to try to stick to this plan for a few weeks and see how things go. I would love to hear anyone else's long term experiences.

Did another 5:00 pm-9 AM "fast", and 2 lbs down in 2 days. I know it's just Water. But I will update this thread periodically as to how it goes.

Update: 3 lbs in 3 days. Had some nausea that woke me at night. I think it was because of an empty stomach. Not eating after 5:00 pm wasn't too hard. I will probably continue with more of a 12 hour fast rather than 16 hours to see how this does. Also, I believe this helped with restriction. I felt like I actually ate less on the 8 hours when I could eat.

Hi all!!! Im due to be sleeved on 8-21-17. Im excited and a lil nervous but am anticipating the out come. I just wanted to jump in on the IF...It was one of the the methods I used along with the Keto lifestyle and it worked very well. But then I developed heel spurs and had to have foot surgery and was in bandages and a cam boot for a while and was knocked out Ketosis. But it really works if your disciplined. I am considering the Ketogenic lifestyle along with IF again after surgery when im fully healed. I think it's great for those who hit a plateau in losing.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
