Me too! You'll have to let me know how the preop class is. I'm one week behind you.

Pre-op class was good. They give you a few packets and go through a lot of information. We discussed each stage of food, Vitamins, medicines, what to do and not do, weighed in, confirmed dates, and a send off with the shakes.

Thank you!

Did you go to the hospital later that day for preop meeting?

Did you start shakes the same day?

I have a list of questions and am getting excited!

I had a checkup with another doc yesterday and she told me that she knows our doc from her residency program and he is known for being very technically good in surgery. That was nice to hear!

Meanwhile I'm home sick with a cold. Better now than on 7/31 I guess!

I get it! My hospital pre-op is a phone call that is scheduled for today. I did start the shakes yesterday. It's hasn't been too bad. I walked for 1.5 today and was expecting to starving after, but all is good. I'm going to get sugar-free Jello this afternoon.
Sorry to hear about your cold. Get better soon! Feel free to ask a million questions.

The first few days it was like: OMG! I can't eat, but it was fine. Friday, I had a headache in the morning and yesterday in the morning I had a stomachache for a few hours. Today, I'm struggling, but not craving anything specific. My friends that have had this swear this is the worst part. 9 more days and I'm counting!

Do you think the headache is sugar withdrawal or are we not allowed to have any caffeine? Can you have coffee?

Good for you! Keep up the good work!

Thank you! Trying to be the warrior my dad swears I am.

We are allowed to have black coffee, but I think I slacked on the Water the day before. Although I drank a lot, I don't think it was 64 oz.

I thought about why it might be worse today and I think it might be from chewing the tiniest piece of gum. My husband, very kindly as I was walking out to an event, told me that my breathe was stinky. I tore a tiny piece off, but I think the chewing may have triggered something. Just a theory, but maybe.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
