Going to TJ for Plication at OCC with Dr Ortiz

Recommended Posts

I had this procedure done in may of 2013. Was at OCC with Dr Ortiz. The whole thing was a waste of time and money, in total I lost 6lbs was doing a whole lot better on my own when needed support or understanding they just wanted you to return to Mexico and undergo another surgery to restrict the plication more. My current dr in the states said No No don't go back to resolve this problem there only taking your money with no hope for a change that may not happen. Totally depressed about the whole thing..I gave up till 6 months ago, on 9/21/17 I am having a revision RNY. My nutritionist current says this has really messed with my metabolism (plication)-hopefully this current surgery can finally get me the results (tool) I'm looking for and be successful. Just be cautious on the choices you have...

Dreamingahead, I am sorry you had such poor results with your plication and wish you the success you dream of with your surgery this month. As with any surgery there are variable results. I had plication in July of 15 and am very happy with my results. Mary 0110 the scares are very small as with all laprosopic surgery. The largest one is still visible and maybe 1/2" long, the others you have to look for.

How did it go Mary? I am considering Ortiz too, but still researching and asking lots of questions, like is their a post-surg follow up?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
