I get my sleeve done on July 13th so it's riggghht around the corner. I'm scared , nervous, but mostly excited to start this new chapter .

My husband is a thin guy . He's roughly 160 and he thinks he's "heavy" then. Which who am I to disagree with him on how he feels so I support and try and help.

However I keep reading that the divorce rate is higher after you get this surgery .

My husband and I have been together for almost 7 years . He's seen me at 160, 220, and my highest 295. Soo he knows what I look like thinner and what I look like heavier . He's not the jealous type so I don't think he'd be concerned about the confidence I'll gain back after the surgery .

He's supportive of me and whatever I need to do to feel like myself again .

Does anyone have advice on this subject ? Ways to keep you and your significant other on track after the surgery? Ways to address your emotions your going through after the surgery ?

Thank you

It seems from reading on here that if you have a solid relationship going into surgery you will be fine. There has been no negative effect to mine.
The relationships that fall apart seem to be the unhealthy and unhappy ones.

Most of the divorces directly related to WLS tend to come from couples who have one spouse who changes eating lifestyles and another who does not. If one tries eating healthy and the other continues bad habits there will be inevitable issues. The other common issue is jealous spouses. It doesn't seem like that will be an issue for you from what you wrote.

congrats on taking the big step to a healthier you!

Thank you both for your input !
We just got married , but like I said , he's seen me all sizes and still thinks I'm beautiful . He knows this is for me however , I believe he deserves the best version of myself !
Being overweight has caused a lot of depression and anxiety for me so I want to get back on track!

If he loves you no matter which size, you will be fine - just keep talking to each other.

I often read about the break ups too and it's usually unhappy relationships or ones where the partner is exclusively into bigger women and can't cope with the changes.

He has liked you at different sizes so I'm sure you will be fine :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
