Hang in there Carrot! Are you worried about the surgery itself, life after, or C all the above?

I think every single person on these boards were and are all still nervous. Try to keep this in mind what your doing isn't just for you but will improve your time with your child and your lives together.

As far as your day of surgery day that day is SO all about you. I know it sounds selfish and will be near impossible but take those hours/days your having surgery/recovering and focus on YOU! Don't worry about anyone else, they will all be fine! So what if nobody clothes match and they ate pizza 5 days in a row. You'll be up and back in command faster than you know it!

PS....As soon as you get to the hospital make them give you something! I ended up having to wait 3 hours after my scheduled time and I freaked out. Sedatives are a good time! I didn't care about anything :faint:

Marcy- thanks for the encouragement.

lizziee- I will keep your advice in mind for after the surgergy and I healing- I like the clothes don't match eating pizza comments. That very well may happen. We will see how I fee. I am not really scared about life after the band right now. I am scared about the actual surgery itself. I am not even scared about pain or anthing. I am just freaked about the anesthesia and surgery part. Especially the anesthesia part!

Carrot-

I don't know how to explain this to you, but I feel a connection to you. I read your posts and I get happy:rolleyes: . I know the dread you are talking about when you are talk about leaving your child, but remember by getting this surgery you are improving your odds of living longer with your child. In a week you will look back at this moment and laugh at your worry.

Just think you are not doing this alone.

Carrot - I know everyone is different, but I've had a couple surgeries in the past 3 years and I was terrified before my first one since I had never had any surgery before. It was a piece of cake. It was a laproscopic gall bladder removal and it was just fine. My Dr says this surgery will be much like that one. Its normal to be worried and there's not much you can do about it, but after its over - you'll feel like a million bucks. Not only because its over, but because you conquered your fear and went through with it. One of my favorite quotes is from a Scott Turow book called Presumed Innocent. It goes like this. "Courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to carryon, with dignity, in spite of it"

Good luck sweetie - you'll do just fine!

:thankyou:Amy- I feel the same way about you chickadee! I love reading your posts! Thanks for the support! I need it right now. I will be staying over at my mom's the first night so I can rest and she can help with my son. (And she doesn't have a computer. So it may be Thursday before I get to post.) I will let you know how it all goes.

Topdownbug- I appreciate your encouragement. (Especially since you have had a few surgeries and have been through it all a few times.)

My surgery is Thursday and I feel the exact same way....nervous, scared and yet strangely excited about it all!

We will be fine! Stay Positive.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
