June 21 2017 new beginnings

Recommended Posts

On June 21st I made the decision to get the gastric sleeve! I had maybe two bad days but most the time I feel super great especially during the day but at night I feel kinda like crap until I finally sleep. I know it'll be a long journey but I'm happy I did this!

How are you doing with your food intake and sipping through the day? Congratulations on your sleeve. I had mine June 26, and I'm having a hard time. Can't wait to be out of this stage, forcing the liquids down is very hard especially when you deal with nausea all day

Had mine June 22 the nausea was really bad. Protein is the key I couldn't tell if my nausea was from the surgery or if I was actually hungry. Turns out I wasn't getting enough. Try a Protein Shake you like. I like Rockin refuel chocolate milk it's got 30 grams protein and now I've added oikos triple zero Greek yogurt 20 grams protein and sugar free. I'm feeling more satisfied now. The nausea did help me lose 29 lbs in one week. Publix also has an organic Tomato juice with sea salt. Helps break up all the sweet stuff. I can't stand broth it gags me. But see what works for you.

Im doing better now that I'm in week two. I get a few gas bubbles because I forget I can't gulp Water or whatever I'm drinking at the time. I haven't had nausea at all during this whole new life change which is surprising. Hopefully yours will stop soon it gets easier, I think when day 7 came everything seemed to be a lot better!

I figured I needed more protein because my body was so week, my friend and I both got some Protein Shakes so we did that one day and felt soooo much better. And getting to have a few bites of yogurt was a nice change! Things are finally starting to get better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
