Wife was sleeved yesterday

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Just wanted to provide an update.

My wife was sleeved yesterday and she is in a lot of pain.

We were not mentally prepared for how much pain she would be in.

She has had two C sections, gall bladder removed, appendix removed and hiatal hernia repair and handled those like a champ.

After sleeve surgery she is miserable.

She is having buyers remorse.

I am scared as my surgery is in August.

You will find almost everyone has buyers remorse after surgery. Mine didn't come until a month out, but it passes and things get better. I promise both of you it does get better!

My surgeon told me that it was a good thing I didn't have any prior abdominal surgeries. Apparently the scar tissue causes more pain. I hope she feels better soon. I'm 10 days out, and tonight is the first time I've had any pain...a little stomachache

Oh no. This makes me so sad to read. I hope it passes quickly.
Been thinking of you guys and knew hers was getting close.
I know you're scared but the pain is a small price to pay for a healthy and hopefully longer rest of your life.
She'll heal and the pain will be gone and things will get exponentially better.

Normal to have some pain after surgery. Try Naprosyn and Tylenol suppositories (alternating) to get on top of pain . That helped take away my pain . Take them regularly for a couple of days , even if pain is just starting . I wish you all the best! Hang in there.

Thank you for thinking of us.
I am hoping she feels better soon.
I think we were naive about the surgery and the recovery time.
Plus, our three year old daughter jumped on my wife when she was sleeping. She literally jumped on her stomach.
I feel bad for my wife and I am scared now.
I don't know if I can handle the surgery.
However, I don't want to be super morbidly obese the rest of my life either.

Everyone is different so don't let her experience scare you!

I had had several abdominal surgeries (gallbladder, c section, kidney stone removal) and for me the sleeve was much easier. I was up and going quite soon after. So your experience wont necessarily be hers.

Be there for her and support her. I hope she feels better soon, but it doesn't mean YOU will have as hard a time of it!

I am doing the best I can.
We are both exhausted.

That must've hurt when your daughter jumped on her. Poor thing.
Keep us posted and try to get some rest.

My poor wife cried when our daughter jumped on her then our daughter cried real bad.
It has been a rough couple of days.

It does get better! I'm only 5 days post op and was not prepared for the pain after surgery at all. It was a rough 48 hours, and I too had buyers remorse and wasn't sure if I had made the right choice, but I did. Hang in there, each day gets a little bit easier!

I had the same thing. I wasn't prepared for so much pain, but it gets better within 2 weeks and back to normal by 6 weeks. Seeing results is what gives you the boost needed.

The day after surgery I was extremely miserable. I would not talk to anyone. The nurses had a hard time with me, but they were extremely patience with me. The next day was better, talking more and walking more. The day after much better. Each day is better, two months out I have no regrets. Everyday is still a challenge, and this is not easy by no means, but I think it was worth those fews day of being miserable in the hospital.

How's she doing today? Did you manage to get some sleep?

She is feeling a little better.
We both got some sleep.
Our kids are being ornery, I think cause they have been cooped up in the house too much.
We are taking it one day at a time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
