Well, I saw my surgeon today for pre op. All my labs and such were great. I signed all my consents and am a little nervous because according to my surgeon, I had to sign for my gastric bypass AND gastric sleeve. He said because I've had a couple previous surgeries there could be scaring that may make the bypass to hard to do, so he said if he can't do the bypass he will do the sleeve in its place. UGH! Now I'm worrying that I won't get my bypass.

My luck lately has sucked. I went on a trip with my daughters while they were visiting me. On our way to a tour of Austin, Texas, I didn't see a dip in the sidewalk and fell. Long story short, I broke my right foot on 6/8/17. I saw an orthopedic doctor and was told I will most likely have to have surgery to fix it. SMH!

I really hope that I can get my bypass surgery and not a sleeve. I've had severe GERD for years and don't want it to get worse.

My surgery is Wednesday and I could use some good luck and prayers for the bypass to be a go.

Thanks for hearing me out. I'll appreciate any and all good vibes!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
