Not sure what's going on

Recommended Posts

So I called my doctor's Office today to see if my insurance approval had come in and was told that they changed my surgery date from July 6th to June 29th. They also said that they were going to hear back from my insurance today and they would call me back to schedule me for an appointment tomorrow to sign all my preop paperwork. Fast forward to end of the day, I didn't hear anything back , and the office was closed. I then tried calling my insurance to check on the approval, but they were also closed. I finally found information through my insurance's online chat feature. The lady there told me that the doctor's office had only sent in request today and that it takes several weeks for the approval to happen. If this is true than my surgery is going to end up July 13th because the doctor is out the original date. Hopefully I find out more tomorrow though I have a feeling I'm going to be rushing into town for a last minute doctor's appointment. If my surgery is going to be June 29th, I need to know tomorrow due to needing to start the preop liquid diet on Monday. I just really don't need this extra unnecessary stress.

I was approved and everything is on the new schedule for June 29th. I'm a planner and ambiguity is stressful.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
