I had my open RNY in 2001. Lost 140lbs , then gained 80 lbs back. I am interested in revision surgery. What options do I have? Who was your doctor ? I would appreciate sharing your information with me. I was told by my original surgeon that there is nothing he can do!

Hello Kat68

Hope all is well. I am not sure if revision is possible after having gastric bypass but I will ask my surgeon since I have a appt with him and can find out but if it's not possible, I believe you will have to start following the guidelines for losing weight by eating Portion Control and seeing a nutritionist. It is possible to lose again. I know a few people that went back and followed the stages of eating for gastric bypass. Where do you live? I have a great surgeon and his name is Collins Braithwaite and he is in Garden City in Long Island. His number is (516) 663-3300. If you decide to call him tell him Ana Santiago-Siddiqi referred you to him. He is the medical and chief director of Bariatric Surgury and I know him very well and I also work for same hospital. I trust him 💯 percent and he has helped me a lot and basically saved my life in many ways. I have a question. Did you gain the weight just like that or did you start eating more than usual? If that is the case you can start all over and cut down. It happens but don't get discourage.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
