When did it get better?

Recommended Posts

Currently still in the hospital and losing my mind. I had surgery Monday 6/5/17 and will hopefully be leaving today, but I'm not mad about not eating or anything like that I just find myself pissed off in the hospital and at the same time the "buyers remorse" is getting to me probably more because I want to be out of here. When does it get better? When you get home?

I got out of the hospital less than 24 hrs after surgery and was more than ready. My first night home was rough but then it got easier every day. Buyers remorse is common. It's mostly up to you. You might have to do some mental work trying to remember why you did this and know that it's temporary. Once you feel better it's a lot easier to have that attitude. I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and have no regrets.

About a week later I got really depressed and had serious regrets. That went away by two weeks out. There's still some times that I am frustrated with a twinge of regret but overall I feel a lot better. I'm also five weeks it and down 25lbs.

Thank you for your responses. I was released from the hospital yesterday which was ahead of schedule for my program that usually requires 4 days including surgery day. It felt really nice to come home since the hospital felt like a prison to me. This morning though I had a little break down as I didn't sleep well not because I was in pain since I'm not in pain I haven't taken anything for pain since the day after surgery, but I was having to have bowel movements every little while which was unexpected and strange. I'm not sure why or what that was about. I'm looking forward to it getting better and better because I am really second guessing myself an my choice since obviously it would be easier to eat and drink like normal like before the surgery. One day at a time I gues

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
