I'm only 2 days in and IT'S HARD!!! I my diet has always been 95% carbs and dairy. The most meat I ate was pepperoni on my pizza and bacon! Vegetables??? NEVER! For 2 days I have been eating meat and veggies ONLY! I am having a hard time, but I'm not cheating! The foods I USED to eat is what got me here, so I am GOING TO DO THIS!!!! I have noticed, that I am drinking ALOT MORE! I have already had 64 ozs of Water today and its only 1:14 pm. Good luck to you!!!!

I'm on day 5, I haven't cheated at all, but it hasn't been easy. I can only have meat and veggies, I don't like either very much. I am only taking in 500-600 cals a day. I am actually looking forward to my surgery, because at least after, I can have yogurt!
Good luck, we'll make it!!!!

Tomorrow is my last day of pre-op diet. I'm to the point that I don't even want to eat. I'm so tired of the same things. I can't wait to be able to add cheese, yogurt, milk, nuts etc. I know it will be a while, but it's something to look forward to. I lost 14lbs this week!

Sweet! Mine seems a little different than most as well! Breakfast and lunch is Protein Shakes. Two Protein Snacks can be bars, yogurt, whatever, and dinner is 6oz meat with non start veggie!

This is basically mine too. I'm so nervous.

My doctor has me on a low carb diet because I have to lose 17 pounds before they will schedule me for surgery. I'm only on day 6, and really praying that I can drop these pounds quickly like so many others have.
Good luck to everyone!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
