I got a call on a Monday that I would have to take a nicotine test in 2 weeks from that date so after the call I didn't smoke another cig I ran to vape store immediately and got Omg for my vape.... otherwise I was never a heavy cigarette smoker but I also vapped 6mg or 9mg liquids trying to slow down cause I knew I would have to take the test... anyway I passed on 2 weeks of 0mg and just got my approval and surgery date of June 13th

Congrats. Do you know what test they did? Carbon Dioxide? Cotinine levels? Blood/urine/saliva?

I think those reading this thread and planning around how long in advance they need to stop should be aware that this length really depends on the test. Some tests you can get away with 3 days of abstaining, some can take over a year (hair).

Was you nicotine test, a blood or urine test?

I had a blood test and was completely negative after 4 1/2 days of zero nicotine.

  • I have been a cigarette smoker since I was 15 yrs old. I spoke to the Baritrician, she gave me a prescription for Wellbrutrin and she told to quit 5 days after starting the prescription. Then after I quit for 14 days, i should come in and get the nicotine test..

I have been reading all of the posts and I just went and got a 0mg vaper. Hoping it helps. The Wellbrutrin is working to take the edge off (Just quit today) I want the Vape, just in case.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
