To-go meals and snacks... No refrigerator needed?

Recommended Posts

I'm attending some day long meetings coming up and I will not have access to a refrigerator or microwave for my meals or Snacks. Most people will be eating out... I will likely have to bring a couple Protein Shakes but does anyone have any ideas for easy take-along snacks?

*not allowed nuts or crackers or beef Jerky yet... Only 35 days PO

I carry the tuna pouches with me when I'm going to be out and away from a fridge.

I often haul around a little cooler (the kind that with a strap that you can carry on your shoulder) when I have to be out and about for the day without a refrigerator. It holds a day's worth of food/protein shakes and the ice keeps it cold. I think mine cost $25 at Target.

Cookie chips (https://hannahmax.com/) and Good Thins (http://www.goodthins.com/) .. so yummy BUT pay attention to the serving sizes! Its all about Portion Control =D

**Sorry didnt see the no nuts/crackers ... but keep these in mind**

I've been doing "deli rolls" and they've been pretty good. I basically take a piece of lunch meat and slice of cheese and roll it up. You can try all kinds of meats and cheeses that work for you but I like the turkey and American and the ham and Monterey Jack the best. Also there are fruit cups and snack sized cheeses that I really enjoy and have worked well for me. Just be careful about the juice in the fruit because it could have a lot of sugar.

There are various Snacks for sale in the BariatricPal Store.< br>Also look at some of the powdered Soups. You should be able to get hot Water at any Starbucks or similar place. oatmeal packages too. The meeting may even offer hot water for tea that you can use.
I second the tuna packs. They are a great go to for me.

I do this also. My ice is still there at the end of the day! Bringing the lunchbox is good too because they always have bad food choices at work meetings. Prepare your own.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
