4 weeks..tired and sad. Why is that?

Recommended Posts

I am four weeks PO this Wednesday.

Have been off work these weeks, and I still feel so tired. I have no problem drinking my Water, or getting enough Protein. But after just a few hours of being outside, meeting people, I get dead tired. I also take all my Vitamins.

Im starting to feel kind of sad here.. sleeping too much. I just miss my work, miss being active. I do t k ow who to talk to about this.

Have any of you passed these feelings? Is it hormones? Help...

I'm 4 weeks and 4 days today PO. I'm back at work since May 2nd. The first week was rough. I'd be exhausted by 1pm. I have some days that are better than others. Some days I have tons of energy and some it takes all I have to get up and go to the bathroom. I think everyone's different. I would read on here while I was off work people walking 2 and 3 miles after their first week. I though wow and I'm lucky to make it to the fridge for a Protein Shake or the bathroom. Take it at your own pace and don't read too much into what one person can do that your not able. It's a major surgery that your body is adjusting too.

It's just good to have this place to share, and hear from other people.

I am also like you, some days I have more energy than others.
I should probably be better at using those days to do fun stuff. (Sorry if my English is off at times, I'm norwegian..)

Anyway..thanks for reaching out. Someti.es that's all you need.

I was on medical leave from work for 6 weeks post-op. I took a nap every single day for at least 2 hours during that 6 weeks. And when I did go back to work, I still struggled with fatigue for the first 2 weeks (and seriously missed the nap).

After 8 weeks, my energy steadily improved. Just be kind to yourself, and be patient (even though I know that is hard to do sometimes...).

Good luck!

Thank you!

It's great to hear you've been there, and passed it.
I guess I just have to be a little patient, and also try not to sleep so much during the day..bahh..

I think I might have felt a tad isolated, being home, when everybody else is working or studying.

I'm so glad I found this app, I already feel less alone [emoji3]

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
