how long did it take to heal

Recommended Posts

I didn't have any drains. I had Robotic, no big abdominal incision. I had 5 holes which only took a couple of stitches.. I would say 3-4 to heal enough to walk a little. It's funny I really do not remember much about the actual surgery. I went home the next day.

One of the Baractric Dr.s talked o me for a good 45 mins a month after surgery when I was having trouble eating. He said it's going to take a good 6+ months to totally heal & feel like yourself mentally & physically. He said we cut & transferred our intestines! Your new stomach needs to adjust to all new food which takes time. He stressed to me o be diligent with my diet, only eat what my program says... he made do much sense to me & I have adhered to his advise! Exceot for yesterday, I had a Michelob Ultra...bad but it was awesome!

Hey! I had surgery Tuesday and stayed 4 days too. I was nauseous and in a lot of pain. Just got home last night. I was really regretting this too. Are you feeling any better?

I had surgery on 4/26/17. I'm having a problem on food choices. I'm keeping it very simple. Applesauce, I did mash up 1/2 sweet potato today. It was yummy.

Hi MK94
I am 11 days post op and finally turned the corner. My energy beginning to return, and my full liq drinking going well. I had several days where I was depleted energy wise because my surgeon wanted me to focus on fluids not Protein and it wasn't enough for me. Once I increased protein consumption, I was a new person! Thank goodness. I was wondering how I would ever get back to work if I couldn't get off the sofa?!
Just stay the course and all will get better. I'm down 23 lbs in 3 weeks, hoping to get a good walk in today.
Best of luck to all!

Did you add Protein Powder to your applesauce and sweet potato? I would encourage you to keep up your Protein intake and minimize easy to swallow carbs as the protein will do a better job with healing and energy levels.

Which Protein Drinks are giving you trouble? And what do you mean when you say they make you sick? And are you sipping or drinking them? With more info we should be able to give you some guidance.

I'm sipping. I think I was over drinking with the 11 ozs. I just drank a Enjury with 1 cup of no fat milk and this seems to agree with me better. Thanks

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
