Liquid Diet 7 months post op

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure why you would need to put yourself through a liquid diet at this stage of the game. What has caused your stall in weight loss? How many calories are you taking in per day? Carbs? Protein? Water? What do you do for exercise? I would say that figuring out the source of the stall (or gain) and dealing with it is preferable to existing on liquids for an extended period of time.

I was 5 months out ( April 2017 ) and did 2 Day liquid diet. I lost 4 pounds in those two days and now I was told by a friend that I should only eat 60-80 grams of Protein and not 80-100grams. I'm at 6 months this month May and see my doctor in a week I've lost 95 pounds and I haven't lost anything so far so I don't know what to do. I workout 5 days a week

I've read on the boards (not my experience) that when you work out a lot & don't consume enough Protein & calories, your body stalls because it's like being in "starvation mode".

Height: 5'0"
Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs.
Surgery date: 2/13/17
Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs).
Current weight: 165.6 lbs
My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.

So OP - where are you? You didn't answer the questions for the info you seek.

@lorimayes How long has your weight loss been stalled? Have you gained weight? Why do you feel you need this reset? In my opinion (and I am not a professional, please contact your surgeon's office and dietitian for your official recommendation) a liquid diet this far out will not do much. You may drop a few pounds in the few days but you need to work on your lifelong lifestyle. Track everything you eat and the activity you do. If you keep to your recommended calorie goal and up your activity the pounds and inches will come off.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
