I had my surgery April 28, 2017. I am also a type 1 diabetic of 28 yrs. Monday while I was driving I had a low blood sugar, so bad that I had to pull my vehicle over and wasn't close to any stores. luckily I had a York Peppermint Patty candy bar in the center console. I made sure to squish it with my lounge and chew really well. however, since yesterday, a day after I ate 1/2 the candy bar, I've been feeling pressure in my chest. I don't have any problems getting anything down, but every now and then, I feel as if there is pressure or discomfort in my chest. since I'm so fresh out of surgery, 6 days now, my band is empty. if I did get food trapped, how will it get fixed? I'm really scared that I've messed up. I've been following my diet rules 100% except for that one time. I'm so scared. Also, since yesterday, I feel hungry often. right now I can have 2-3oz per 30-40 min. Before yesterday I was drinking those Campbell's handheld cream Soups until they said that the small pieces in the Soup is too much so today I've been straining them. but with those soups, Protein Shakes, I notice that I'm hungry quite often. I go tomorrow for my x-ray.

Is there a way to help food that might be caught, go down? My shoulder is now aching so I'm pretty sure I've over filled my pouch.

Hi Luna, we got banded the same day! Hope you get the answers you're after. Perhaps going and seeing your surgeon would be best.
I know since the op I will have a day where I'm hungry and scared it's not working, then the next day I can eat almost nothing and struggle even with Water. From what I've read here that's normal.

Thrilled not to be hungry!

yea so the next day I wasn't very hungry (could have been nerves.) I went for the esophogram at 9:30, no food or drink before hand. To my surprise, nothing was clogged and it looked great. like magic, I no longer felt any pressure or anything. After the x-ray I went to my surgeons office to the dietician. She said that what I felt was normal, and hunger is normal just because my body wants 1200 calories and its only getting 500-600. I didn't admit to the candy. so everything is good now! very awesome that we were banded the same day! I hope you're doing good and able to stay on track! I tell ya, now...I would LOVE a cheeseburger! lol, but the weight I've lost so far is much more gratifying! happy dieting Flikster!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
