After revision did you have shortness of breathe?

Recommended Posts

I just had my band to bypass done 4/26 and spent 5 days in the hospital. It has been very uncomfortable to take deep breathes or talk for long periods of time ...

my stomach still does seem inflated a bit with gas but I just wanted to see if this was something that had happened with any of you ?

I did not. May want to call your doc just to be safe. Seems like shortness of breath was something I was supposed to watch out for. Never hurts to be safe.

Yes, I had some difficulty taking deep breaths or talking. It took several days to pass. I think it was the gas.

I am one week post revision surgery and have felt I need to concentrate on taking deep breaths throughout the day..... in hospital I had a spiroball to use every fifteen minutes. You're not alone on this ...... good luck

Went through the same, but I was never sure if it was due to the complications I had from my spleen bleed. When that happened I had a horrible time breathing and took quite some time to recover from that. Once I was back home I still got winded easily. Going up stairs was a chore and didn't take doing much to make me feel wiped out. I had to use the spiro thing as well, but that was more for preventing pneumonia.

Oh man stairs are not easy yet for sure! I I'm feeling a bit better today but walking very slow, when did you get your surgery? How are you feeling now? I will say one thing I can't wait to be off of these all liquids! Lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
