New: where do I introduce myself? :-)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm new and learning my way around the app. Where do I introduce myself?

Maybe I'll just do it here! I'm two weeks out from my RNY and doing pretty well. Always looking for friends and happy with information. I live in Europe, work part time, am married and enjoy my life with Hubs, my dog, and my retired horse.

RNY 14 April 2017

Hi Katriena, welcome. This is as good a place to introduce yourself as any. I'm from Mississippi, married and still working. I had my RNY in November and I'm doing well but still struggling with what to eat. This is a great site and have found a lot of help and support here. I hope you will have the same positive experiences, Drop in on any discussion and you will meet folks.

Janet

I too am sort of new. I joined about the time I had a lap band. Did well for a time then began having troubles finding the "Sweet spot". Then breast cancer and had my band deflated for fear of vomiting. I have been pretty discouraged and talked with my PCP who felt I had done as well as I can expect with the band. I have lost and gained the same 20 pounds now for months. We discussed the bypass and I am waiting to see if I will be accepted into the program. I am looking to give and get support and learning tip from those who have gone before me.

Welcome Katriena,

I'm fairly new here too. I'm in So. California and looking forward to having a Sleeve surgery in about 4 months or so. This site has been great for tons of support and learning what to expect.

Best wishes for you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
