Why are my co-workers so obsessed with food?

When you are on the post op diet EVERYTHING is going to annoy you and just make you mad. The way people eat, the way they talk, they way they walk, the fact that they are alive and annoying you. ;)

Give yourself a break and know that this will pass. Life gets better!

Yep, it definitely won't be long before you go 'my god, how can they eat like that/all of that'. I am finding myself disgusted all the time at what a pig my husband is.. or at a restaurant watching others eat.. skinny people, fat people, doesn't matter. Anyone without bariatric surgery eats SO MUCH and SO FAST.

And until April of this year, I had no idea.

It's shocking, isn't it? I mean, until I was banded, I'd keep up with the best of them. I look at my parents and friends now and wonder how in the world I used to suck down that much food. People eat so much more than they really need to survive. I'll eat with my parents, and my dad will eat a huge portion of lasagna, garlic bread, veggies. And then he'll go for the ice cream or Cookies. It's really mind-boggling. ;) :faint:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
