Does the first visit count?

Recommended Posts

Hello Peeps,

I am wondering if the first visit to the weight loss surgeon counts towards the six month waiting period. I saw him in January. So I am wondering is it 6 visits after that and then can submit to insurance for approval? Or is it 5 visits after that and then can submit for approval?

Essentially what I am asking is, how many visits total before can submit to insurance?

Initial consult plus six more?

Or initial consult plus 5 more?

Thank you

For me, the first visit counted as #1 of the 6 monthly visits that I had to meet with the surgeon's NP. My first appointment was in March; my last was in August, and my surgery was in September.

I'd just ask them flat out. They'll know exactly what your insurance requirements are.

Cool, thanks for responding.
I believe that will be the case with me, but I will call them to double check.

My first visit counted as my first weigh in so I have 5 more.

Mine did. My insurance doesn't have a minimum visit requirement, but my surgeon required 3 consecutive months. Had my last visit on Thursday & they will submit to insurance soon.

Good luck to you !

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
