Protein Guidelines

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what range of grams of Protein your doctor gave you. I've seen some as high as 120 & as low as 50. Are you losing fast or slow? I've been around 70-80 & have been losing slower than most. Also, what about carbs? Do you count the ones from fruits & veggies in your total? Someone said they didn't. May need to change up my routine. Thanks so much!!

I had my surgery 11/1 and I'm on 60 grams of Protein a day. I still haven't had bread... pasta... rice... I stay away from those carbs. I've lost 102 pounds! Don't eat much fruit because of the sugar ... even thought natural sugar it taste really sweet to me now.

Where did you start at as far as weight? I was doing hardly any carbs but my nut said I should add some veggies & fruit. Still hasn't helped any. Any problems with Hair loss at 60 gms? I can go back & do the liquid if I need to. Lol. I was sleeved on 10/17 & only lost 75 lbs!

I started at 309... hey 75 pounds is great! My dr said 60 grams of Protein a day and then add a vegetable if you can and then a fruit. I never make it to the fruit. The protein stil stuffs me! I do try to eat veggies everyday!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
