Recommended Posts

I am really hoping that once I lose some weight that my blood work will improve!

Tell me some stats before and after significant weight loss, please! I am interested in BP, Sugar, and cholesterol.

Thanks!!!

My cholesterol was under 200 to begin with, but my old/new stats are as follows:

Total - 177 - 109

LDL - 109 - 49

My HDL didn't change.

My blood sugar has dropped below 100, out of the pre-diabetic range.

While my blood pressure wasn't ever high it has dropped back to my normal lower blood pressure - where it was prior to gaining so much weight. I was also scheduled to have knee replacement surgery on my right knee and have now postponed it indefinitely. I've lost almost 60 pounds since I was sleeved in August 2016 and my knee isn't causing me any pain right now. According to my doctor knee replacement is inevitable at some future point but it's not anything I'm too concerned about at this time. No pain, no discomfort and no surgery scheduled. He confirmed the weight loss is directly responsible for the change. I'm very excited and thrilled that I feel so good. It was the best news I could have gotten.

My husband and it came off l BP med each, and I came off Metformin. His insulin dose was cut in half. No more calling rescue in the middle of the night when his blood sugar dropped to 40. Four years since sleeve and definitely have a better quality of life. We are 71 now and even kayak.

Blood work was always normal, but BP was drifting higher even with meds. BP dropped immediately post-op...had to stop meds as i was getting light headed...solid 110/60 with resting pulse of 55 for almost 2 years now...nice to take no medications at all

Wow. This is very encouranging to hear so many excellents results after WFS. I am so looking forward to having the procedure done. I'm in the early stage. My first class will be next Thursday, April 27th. I can hardly wait. I too have blood issues. I'm currently taking BP meds, have very bad joint discomfort in both knees due to arthritis, diabetic controlled with diet. It's my hope that these problems will go away after surgery. There's truly a light at the end of the tunnel.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
