My surgery is scheduled for October 19th! This is my transition date because this is the exact date two years ago that I lost my baby to stillbirth due to diabetes and every other thing that could go wrong with your weight and pregnancy. I am a nervous wreck and I start my liquid diet on Thursday. Please help I have horrible anxiety and I have trouble sleeping right now. I just want to get it over with! Any suggestions?:)

Hi Kristina and welcome! I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your baby. I can't and won't even begin to imagine how you must feel. I will tell you to hang in there. The band will help you lose weight for you to have a safe pregnancy with a happy ending.

I too am a nervous wreck about surgery. I go in Friday the 5th to be banded! It's been a 6 month wait doing all the requirements the insurance company insisted on. But it's here and I'm nervous and scared and excited and having about every other emotion out there. You just keep popping in here for support. We are here for you. As for the sleeping, well, try dreaming of nice and thin you are gonna be!

Thank you so much! I cant wait to get the surgery part over with! As for the financial part I was fortunate enough to not have to deal with insurance and all of that stuff! We are just paying for it to get it done with!Good luck on your journey and do let me know how it goes and be honest with how you feel!!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
